Pagosa Junction Loop
A Scenic Drive
6.14.2015
As the sunrose in the distance over the continental divide, while I was making a french press of coffee to start the day, we are planning to drive out to Chimney Rock National Monument and check out the upcoming events. Then from there have our travels take us on the Pagosa Junction scenic drive.
We packed our packs and let our site at Mountain Landing RV Park and travel the 11 miles to Chimney Rock.
From Chimney Rock we headed back towards Pagosa Springs, to start the Pagosa Junction scenic drive. Taking a right off of hwy 160 on to CR 700 heading south through the Ute Indian Reservation. On this drive you travel past the Talian Mine which is closed down and the Lone Tree Catholic Church.
At CR 500 you venture left and drive along the West Fork of the San Juan River which on this date is running out of its banks. You will travel through the settlements of Juanita and Trujillo. A scenic drive in the spring through this area will be lush and green with lots of wildflowers. This area does look a like New Mexico, as far as scenic drives go we have to say this one is in the middle of the road. If you don’t really have anything else to do please take the drive.
We are posting the complete drive here in several sequences for your enjoyment.
